Naphtuhim

Early Patriarch · H5320
Old Testament

The Naphtuhim were descendants of Mizraim, son of Ham, who settled in northern Egypt.

The Naphtuhim were a people descended from Mizraim, the son of Ham and ancestor of Egypt, listed in the Table of Nations as one of the Egyptian or north African peoples (Genesis 10:13; 1 Chronicles 1:11). The precise geographic or ethnic identification of the Naphtuhim has been debated; some scholars associate them with the Nile Delta region (Lower Egypt), while others connect the name to the Libyan peoples west of the Nile. They appear only in the Table of Nations and play no role in the biblical narrative.
