Chapter Summary
The first of fifteen Songs of Ascent (Psalms 120-134) likely used by pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem. This lament cries to the Lord from Meshech and Kedar — symbols of hostile foreign lands — about lying lips and deceitful tongues. The psalmist is for peace but his adversaries are for war.
