Aaron
Aaron was Moses' older brother and served as the first high priest of Israel.
Aaron was the elder brother of Moses and Miriam, from the tribe of Levi, and the first high priest of Israel (Exodus 4:14; 28:1). He served as Moses's spokesman before Pharaoh and participated in performing the signs and wonders of the plagues. After the Exodus, Aaron was consecrated as high priest and his sons as priests, establishing the Aaronic priesthood that would serve Israel for centuries (Leviticus 8–9). His most serious failure was the construction of the golden calf at Sinai during Moses's absence (Exodus 32), yet his priestly role continued. He died on Mount Hor before the entry into Canaan at age 123 (Numbers 33:38–39), and the Letter to the Hebrews presents Christ as the high priest superior to the Aaronic line (Hebrews 7).
