Old Testament

Achbor, also known as Abdon, was an official during the reign of King Josiah of Judah and was involved in the discovery of the Book of the Law and the subsequent religious reforms.

Achbor son of Micaiah, also identified as Abdon in the parallel account in 2 Chronicles 34:20, was a senior official in the court of King Josiah of Judah. He was one of five men sent by the king to inquire of the prophetess Huldah after the Book of the Law was discovered in the temple (2 Kings 22:12–14). Huldah's prophetic response to their delegation confirmed the authenticity of the scroll and announced both coming judgment on Judah and God's grace toward the repentant Josiah. Achbor's son Elnathan is also mentioned in the book of Jeremiah.
