Old Testament

Ahiezer was a Benjamite warrior who joined David at Ziklag.

Ahiezer son of Shemaah the Gibeathite was a Benjaminite warrior and ambidextrous archer who joined David at Ziklag while he was still a fugitive from Saul (1 Chronicles 12:3). He led a company of David's Benjaminite supporters from Saul's own tribe, demonstrating the fracturing of tribal loyalty during the transition of power. The Benjaminite archers who joined David were prized for their ability to sling stones or shoot arrows with either hand. A separate Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai served as the leader of the tribe of Dan during the wilderness period (Numbers 1:12; 2:25).
