Old Testament

Aiah was the father of Rizpah, who was a concubine of King Saul.

Aiah was the father of Rizpah, who was a concubine of King Saul (2 Samuel 3:7; 21:8–11). Rizpah herself is one of the most poignant figures in the David narrative: after her two sons by Saul were handed over to the Gibeonites and executed, she kept watch over their exposed bodies on the rock of Gibeon, driving away birds by day and animals by night from the beginning of harvest until the rains came. David's compassionate response—gathering the bones of Saul's family for proper burial in the tomb of Kish—reveals both his honor and the depth of Rizpah's maternal devotion. Aiah is known solely as her father.
