Eliashib

This Eliashib was a priest who served during King David's organization of the priestly divisions, assigned to the eleventh course in the rotational service of the sanctuary (1 Chronicles 24:12). He is distinct from the more prominent Eliashib the high priest of Nehemiah's era, who oversaw the rebuilding of the Sheep Gate and whose alliance with Tobiah the Ammonite caused concern (Nehemiah 3:1; 13:4–9). The priestly name Eliashib was common enough to appear across multiple generations and families.
