Haran was a descendant of Caleb, born to Caleb's concubine Ephah, along with his brothers Moza and Gazez.
Haran was a son of Caleb by his concubine Ephah, listed in 1 Chronicles 2:46 as the father of Gazez. He is one of the Calebite figures within the tribe of Judah preserved in the Chronicles genealogies. Haran is also the name of Abraham's brother who died before his father Terah in Ur of the Chaldeans (Genesis 11:27–28), the father of Lot, Milcah, and Iscah; the city of Haran in upper Mesopotamia that served as the family's stopping point on their journey toward Canaan (Genesis 11:31–32); and a son of Shimei in the Levitical genealogy (1 Chronicles 23:9). The Judahite Haran belongs to the Calebite tradition of Judah's southern clans.
