Huppah was the head of the thirteenth priestly division established by King David for rotation of service at the sanctuary (1 Chronicles 24:13). The twenty-four priestly divisions David organized served in the temple for one week at a time, a system that continued through the Second Temple period. Huppah's division would have been responsible for all priestly duties—sacrifice, incense, and blessing—during its appointed week of service.
