Hur was one of the twelve district governors appointed by King Solomon to oversee the provision of food for the royal household.

Hur son of Ben-hur was an administrative officer appointed by King Solomon to govern one of the twelve districts responsible for provisioning the royal household for one month each year (1 Kings 4:8). His district covered the hill country of Ephraim. This Hur should be distinguished from the more prominent Hur who held up Moses' arms at the battle of Rephidim (Exodus 17:10–12) and from Hur, the grandfather of Bezalel the craftsman (Exodus 31:2); all three figures are distinct individuals within the Old Testament narrative.
