The Hushathites were a clan or family that produced several of David's mighty warriors, including Sibbecai and Mebunnai.
The Hushathites were a Judahite clan that produced two of David's notable warriors: Sibbecai, who killed the Philistine giant Saph at Gob (2 Samuel 21:18; 1 Chronicles 20:4), and Mebunnai (2 Samuel 23:27). Sibbecai the Hushathite also commanded the eighth monthly division of David's army (1 Chronicles 27:11). The clan likely took its name from the town of Hushah in Judah, and their military distinction brought lasting recognition to their family group in the Davidic annals.
