Old Testament

Mattithiah, a Levite, served as a musician during the time of King David.

Mattithiah son of Shallum was a Levite of the Korahite branch appointed by David to serve before the ark, specifically charged with baking flat cakes on the griddle in the service of the temple (1 Chronicles 9:31). He is also listed as one of the fourteen Levites who played the harp and lyre in the procession when David brought the ark to Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 15:18, 21). A Mattithiah son of Jeduthun headed the fourteenth musical division (1 Chronicles 25:3, 21).
