Old Testament

Mispar, also known as Mispereth, was among the first group of exiles who returned to Jerusalem from Babylon under the leadership of Zerubbabel.

Mispar, also called Mispereth in the parallel list of Nehemiah 7:7, was one of the eleven or twelve leaders who headed the first group of exiles returning to Judah from Babylon under Zerubbabel following Cyrus's decree (Ezra 2:2). He is listed alongside Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, and other prominent returnees who led the restoration community back to the land. His name, meaning 'number' or 'writing,' is otherwise unattested in the biblical record.
