'And many nations shall come, and say: Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths. For out of Zion shall go the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem' — Micah 4:1–5's eschatological vision (nearly identical to Isaiah 2:2–4) depicts the reversal of Zion's fortunes from judgment oracle (3:12) to center of universal pilgrimage. The nations' spontaneous 'come, let us go up' reverses the typical prophetic summons to Israel; in the eschaton, Gentile initiative fulfills what Israel's disobedience frustrated. The Torah 'going out' from Zion (yetse Torah miTsion) presents eschatological instruction as a centrifugal movement from Zion to the nations, complementing the centripetal pilgrimage imagery. The verse's vision of beating swords into plowshares (verse 3) has become the most cited image of eschatological peace in international political discourse.
