Old Testament

Azarel was one of the Danite warriors who joined David at Ziklag (1Ch.12.6).

Azarel was a Danite warrior who joined David at Ziklag while David was still living among the Philistines as a fugitive from Saul (1 Chronicles 12:6). He is listed among the Benjaminite and other warriors—including men from Saul's own tribe—who recognized David's future kingship and defected to his cause. Several other men named Azarel appear in post-exilic records: a musician in the temple service under Nehemiah (Nehemiah 12:36), a man who had married a foreign wife (Ezra 10:41), and a leader of a Danite division under David (1 Chronicles 27:22). The name, meaning 'God has helped,' was shared by multiple individuals across different periods.
