Ben-hesed

Ben-hesed ('son of Hesed') was one of Solomon's twelve officers responsible for providing provisions for the royal court from the territory of Arubboth, which included Socoh and all the land of Hepher (1 Kings 4:10). The systematic rotation of twelve governors, each responsible for one month of the year's provisions, was a hallmark of Solomonic administration. Ben-hesed's district lay in the western foothills of Judah, an agriculturally productive area.
