Darda

Darda was a wise man celebrated in the ancient Near East, listed alongside Ethan the Ezrahite, Heman, and Calcol as men whose wisdom King Solomon's surpassed (1 Kings 4:31). He is identified as a son of Mahol. In 1 Chronicles 2:6, a 'Dara' appears among the sons of Zerah of Judah, and the two may be the same person under variant spellings. The tradition of Judahite wise men associated with the Zerahite lineage reflects a broader wisdom culture in pre-monarchic and early monarchic Israel.
