Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died and was buried under an oak below Bethel.

Deborah was a prophetess and the only female judge mentioned among the judges of Israel, holding court under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim (Judges 4:4–5). When the Israelites were oppressed by the Canaanite king Jabin and his general Sisera, Deborah summoned Barak to lead an army and promised him victory. When Barak refused to go without her, she agreed but predicted that the glory of killing Sisera would go to a woman (Judges 4:9). Sisera was ultimately killed by Jael (Judges 4:21), and the Song of Deborah in Judges 5 is one of the oldest poetic compositions in the Bible, celebrating Israel's deliverance in vivid martial imagery.
