Elishaphat

Elishaphat son of Zichri was one of five military commanders who secretly allied with Jehoiada the high priest to overthrow the usurper Queen Athaliah and restore the legitimate Davidic heir Joash to the throne of Judah (2 Chronicles 23:1). His willingness to risk his life in support of the covenant and the Davidic dynasty marks him as a man of both military courage and political conviction. The coup he helped execute ended Athaliah's six-year reign and preserved the messianic line.
