Old Testament

Ezekiel was a prophet during the Babylonian exile who authored the Book of Ezekiel and served as a sign to the people of Israel.

Ezekiel son of Buzi was a priest and prophet active among the Judean exiles in Babylon from approximately 593 to 571 BCE. He received his prophetic call through an extraordinary vision of a throne-chariot (merkavah) attended by four living creatures—later interpreted in Revelation as the symbols of the four evangelists (Ezekiel 1). His ministry included dramatic sign-acts, elaborate allegories, and detailed visions of the departure of God's glory from Jerusalem (Ezekiel 10–11) and its future return to the restored Temple (Ezekiel 40–48). His vision of the valley of dry bones brought to life by the Spirit (Ezekiel 37) became one of the most powerful biblical images of national restoration and resurrection. He held individuals personally responsible for their own sins, a significant theological development (Ezekiel 18).
