Heber

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Judah(?) · H2268I
Old Testament

Heber was a son of Mered, from the tribe of Judah.

Heber was a man of the tribe of Judah (or Asher in other genealogical traditions), recorded in 1 Chronicles 4:18 as the son of Ezrah within the Judahite clan register. His name is identical to that of Heber the Kenite, husband of Jael who killed Sisera (Judges 4–5), and to the Asherite Heber of 1 Chronicles 7:31–32. Several biblical figures share this name, which is related to the word for 'community' or 'associate.' The Judahite Heber is known only from his genealogical entry in Chronicles.
