Old Testament

Izziah, a descendant of Parosh, was among those who agreed to put away their foreign wives during Ezra's reforms.

Izziah was a descendant of Parosh who had married a foreign woman during the period of the early restoration and was listed among those who agreed to dissolve these marriages under Ezra's reform (Ezra 10:25). The register in Ezra 10 represents a public record of those who responded to the covenant renewal, acknowledging the communal concern for preserving the distinctiveness of the returning community. Izziah's compliance with the reform is preserved in this historically significant document.
