Jeatherai, also known as Ethni, was a Levite, the son of Zerah, and an ancestor of Asaph.
Jeatherai, also known as Ethni, was a Levite of the Gershonite family, a son of Zerah and an ancestor of Asaph the celebrated temple musician (1 Chronicles 6:21; 6:41). Asaph's genealogy in 1 Chronicles 6 traces his ancestry through the Gershonite line, and Jeatherai appears as one of the links in this Levitical chain. As an ancestor of Asaph, whose psalms are preserved in the Psalter (Psalms 50, 73–83), Jeatherai belongs to the lineage of one of Israel's most important liturgical traditions.
