Man living at the time of the New Testament

Jesus of Nazareth is the central figure of Christianity, held by Christians to be the Son of God, the incarnate Word, and the long-awaited Messiah of Israel. Born in Bethlehem to the Virgin Mary, he grew up in Nazareth in Galilee and around age thirty began a public ministry of teaching, healing, and exorcism, announcing the Kingdom of God and calling twelve disciples. He was crucified under the Roman prefect Pontius Pilate in Jerusalem around 30–33 CE and, according to the Gospel accounts and the testimony of the early church, rose from the dead on the third day. The four Gospels, the letters of Paul, and the rest of the New Testament are devoted to the proclamation and exploration of who he is and what his life, death, and resurrection accomplish for humanity. He is also revered as a prophet in Islam and is a significant figure in numerous other religious traditions.
