Old Testament

Kemuel, the son of Hebron, was the leader of the Levites during the reign of King David.

Kemuel son of Shiphtan was the appointed leader from the tribe of Ephraim in the commission that oversaw the distribution of the land among the tribes of Israel under Joshua and Eleazar (Numbers 34:24). He represented Ephraim on this administrative body, ensuring that his tribe received its proper allotment. A different Kemuel son of Nahor and Milcah appears in Genesis 22:21 as a nephew of Abraham, and yet another Kemuel is named as a Levite leader under David (1 Chronicles 27:17).
