The Mecherathites were a clan or inhabitants of an unknown place called Mecherah.
The Mecherathites are represented among David's mighty men by Hepher the Mecherathite, listed in the extended roster of champions in 1 Chronicles 11:36. The clan name appears to derive from a place called Mecherath, the location of which has not been identified. The parallel list in 2 Samuel 23 reads differently at this point, and the Mecherathites appear only in the Chronicler's version of the warrior catalog.
