Michal, the younger daughter of King Saul, became David's wife and helped him escape from Saul's attempts to kill him.

Michal was the younger daughter of King Saul and the first wife of David, who loved him and helped him escape her father's assassination attempt by lowering him through a window and placing an idol in his bed as a decoy (1 Samuel 19:11–17). During David's years as a fugitive, Saul gave her to another man, Paltiel son of Laish (1 Samuel 25:44). When David became king, he demanded her return over Paltiel's evident grief (2 Samuel 3:13–16). Their relationship ended bitterly: when Michal saw David 'leaping and dancing before the LORD' as the ark was brought to Jerusalem and despised him in her heart, David rebuked her, and the text notes she had no children to the day of her death—interpreted as divine judgment for her contempt (2 Samuel 6:16–23).
