Old Testament

Mikneiah, a Levite, was one of the musicians appointed by David to play the harp during the procession of the ark to Jerusalem.

Mikneiah was a Levitical musician appointed by David to play the harp during the solemn procession that brought the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 15:18, 21). He was assigned to the second rank of musicians, playing the eight-stringed harps that provided a lower register of accompaniment. The elaborate musical arrangements David instituted for the ark's transfer into Jerusalem established the pattern for the Levitical music of the temple.
