Nahor

Patriarchs (Abraham–Joseph) Early Patriarch · H5152G
Old Testament

Nahor, the son of Serug and father of Terah, was Abraham's grandfather.

Nahor was a son of Serug and the father of Terah, making him the grandfather of Abraham in the genealogy of Shem's descendants (Genesis 11:22–25; Luke 3:34, KJV: Nachor). He lived 148 years according to the Masoretic text. His name was shared by his more famous grandson—Abraham's brother Nahor—who married Milcah and became the ancestor of the Aramean tribes of upper Mesopotamia. Nahor son of Serug belongs to the antediluvian-to-patriarchal transitional genealogy that bridges the flood narrative with the call of Abraham.
