Nebushazban, a Babylonian official, was among those who took charge of Jeremiah after the fall of Jerusalem.
Nebushazban was a Babylonian official bearing the title Rab-saris (chief officer or chief eunuch) who was among the commanders dispatched by Nebuchadnezzar after the fall of Jerusalem to take charge of Jeremiah and ensure his welfare (Jeremiah 39:13). Nebuchadnezzar had given explicit orders that Jeremiah was to be protected and cared for, and Nebushazban was one of those charged with carrying out that command. He appears only in this passage and the parallel account of Jeremiah 40:1–5.
