1 Corinthians 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Study Note
The promise that 'God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear' comes in the context of Paul's warning from Israel's wilderness failures (verses 1-12). The word 'temptation' (peirasmos) in Greek covers both external testing and internal solicitation to sin; the verse applies to both. The assurance that God 'will also provide a way out' does not promise immunity from temptation but a path through it — 'so that you can endure it.' The verse is often pastorally misapplied as a promise that God never allows unbearable suffering, but Paul's context is specifically moral testing and the possibility of apostasy, not physical or emotional suffering.
