Old Testament

Ahlai was the father of Zabad, who was one of David's mighty men.

Ahlai was the father of Zabad, one of David's mighty men listed in the extended catalogue of warriors in 1 Chronicles 11:41. His son Zabad was among the additional thirty warriors appended to the standard list, indicating inclusion in the broader circle of David's elite military household. Ahlai also appears as a daughter of Sheshan in the genealogy of 1 Chronicles 2:31, where Sheshan had no sons and gave his daughter Ahlai to his Egyptian servant Jarha to continue the family line—though whether these two references indicate the same individual or different people with the same name is debated.
