Old Testament

The daughter of Shecaniah was married to one of Tobiah the Ammonite's sons.

The daughter of Shecaniah son of Arah, unnamed in the biblical text, was married to Tobiah the Ammonite, Nehemiah's opponent, creating a family alliance that bound many Judahites to Tobiah by oath (Nehemiah 6:17–18). This marriage is cited by Nehemiah as part of the complex web of loyalties that complicated his efforts to rebuild Jerusalem and enforce community boundaries. She is known only through this reference to the political marriage alliance.
