Helez

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Judah · H2503H
Old Testament

Helez was a descendant of Jerahmeel, son of Hezron, from the tribe of Judah.

Helez the Paltite (or Pelonite) was one of David's thirty mighty warriors, listed in 2 Samuel 23:26 and 1 Chronicles 11:27, 27:10. He also served as the commander of David's seventh monthly military division, which was on duty in the seventh month, with a force of 24,000 men (1 Chronicles 27:10). His double role—as one of the thirty and as a divisional commander—indicates he was a figure of significant military authority in the administrative structure of the Davidic kingdom.
