Maaseiah, a Levite gatekeeper, served during the reign of King David.
Maaseiah was a Levite gatekeeper appointed by David to serve before the ark when it was brought up to Jerusalem, playing with instruments of music (1 Chronicles 15:18, 20). He is listed among the second-rank Levites who played harps tuned to alamoth alongside Zechariah and others. The name Maaseiah ('work of the LORD') was very common in the Old Testament, shared by more than twenty different individuals from various periods and contexts.
