Matthat was an ancestor of Jesus Christ, mentioned in His genealogy.
Matthat appears in Luke's genealogy of Jesus as an ancestor of Joseph in Luke 3:24, in the generation before Heli. A second Matthat appears earlier in the same genealogy at Luke 3:29 in the line through the post-exilic period. He likely corresponds to the Matthan of Matthew 1:15 in the equivalent position of Joseph's genealogy. As with many figures in Luke's list, he is not independently attested in the Old Testament.
