Rezon

Old Testament

Rezon, son of Eliada, was an adversary of Solomon who reigned over Aram (Syria) in Damascus.

Rezon was a former officer of Hadadezer of Zobah who fled after David's defeat of that kingdom and established himself as ruler of Damascus, becoming an adversary to Solomon throughout his reign (1 Kings 11:23–25). His opposition, together with Jeroboam's rebellion, represented the external and internal pressures that troubled Solomon's later years and foreshadowed the fragmentation of the kingdom.
