Hospitalidade

The welcoming of guests and strangers, a sacred duty throughout the biblical world. Abraham entertained three visitors who turned out to be divine messengers (Genesis 18:1-8). Hebrews 13:2 references this: 'Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.' Romans 12:13 commands believers to 'practice hospitality.' First Peter 4:9 adds, 'Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.' Church leaders must be hospitable (1 Timothy 3:2, Titus 1:8). Jesus taught that serving the hungry, thirsty, and stranger is serving him (Matthew 25:35-40).
