Revelation 22:13
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Study Note
Christ's self-identification as 'the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end' uses three overlapping formulas to express absolute temporal primacy and ultimate sovereignty. Alpha and Omega (the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet) function as a merism — claiming all that exists between the extremes — rather than merely chronological bookends. The title 'Alpha and Omega' is used of God in Revelation 1:8 and 21:6 and here of Christ, one of Revelation's implicit Christological identifications of Christ with God. The verse concludes the final vision of the New Jerusalem and its blessings, framing the entire sweep of salvation history as encompassed within Christ's identity and reign.
