Revelation 7:14
And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Study Note
The 'great multitude' from Revelation 7:9 is identified as those 'which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb' — a paradox that is central to Revelation's theology of salvation. Washing in blood that makes clothing white inverts normal logic to declare that purification comes only through atoning death, not human effort. Hebrews 9:14 and 1 John 1:7 articulate the same mechanism; the imagery ultimately derives from Isaiah 1:18 ('though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow') applied through the Lamb's sacrifice.
