Agee the Hararite was the father of Shammah, one of David's mighty men.
Agee the Hararite was the father of Shammah, one of the three elite warriors who formed David's highest tier of military champions (2 Samuel 23:11). His son Shammah famously stood alone in a field of lentils and struck down a Philistine raiding party when the rest of Israel's troops fled, an act of singular courage that earned him a place among 'the three.' Agee himself is known only through his son's heroic fame; the designation 'Hararite' may indicate an origin in the hill country of Judah or a family connection to the region of Harar.
