Ahishar was in charge of King Solomon's palace.

Ahishar was the official in charge of the palace administration (literally 'the one over the house') in the court of King Solomon (1 Kings 4:6). This position was one of the most powerful in the ancient Near Eastern royal court, effectively making Ahishar the chief steward or vizier responsible for the day-to-day management of the palace compound, its personnel, and its resources. Solomon's administrative list in 1 Kings 4 represents one of the clearest pictures of Israelite royal bureaucracy, and Ahishar's role would have placed him among the inner circle of the kingdom's leadership.
