Baal

Baal was a descendant of Reuben, Jacob's firstborn son, mentioned in the genealogical records of 1 Chronicles 5:5. He appears in the Reubenite tribal register during the period of the Divided Monarchy, with no associated narrative. His name—identical to the Canaanite storm deity—was not uncommon as a personal name in early Israel before the prophetic movement strongly discouraged theophoric names honoring Baal.
