Beninu was a Levite who sealed the covenant in Nehemiah's time.
Beninu was a Levite who set his seal on the covenant document during Nehemiah's great covenant renewal ceremony, described in Nehemiah 9–10. The signing of the covenant represented the community's solemn commitment to walk in God's law, observe the sabbath, support the temple, and avoid intermarriage with foreign peoples. Beninu's participation, however brief his mention, made him part of this pivotal act of communal recommitment in post-exilic Jerusalem.
