Egypt

Patriarchs (Abraham–Joseph) Early Patriarch · H4714H
Old Testament

Egypt (Mizraim) was a descendant of Ham and the ancestor of various African peoples, such as the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, Pathrusites, Casluhites, and Caphtorites.

Egypt (Hebrew: Mizraim) was a son of Ham and grandson of Noah, listed in the Table of Nations as the ancestral father of the African peoples including the Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, Pathrusim, Casluhim, and Caphtorim (Genesis 10:6, 13–14). As an eponymous ancestor, 'Egypt' in the genealogy represents the land and civilization of ancient Egypt, which played a pivotal role in the biblical narrative from Joseph's sojourn to the Exodus and beyond. The Hebrew name Mizraim remains the standard biblical term for the nation of Egypt throughout the Old Testament.
