Gideoni

Exodus & Wilderness Tribe of Benjamin · H1441
Old Testament

Gideoni, the son of Abidan, was the leader of the tribe of Benjamin during the Israelites' journey through the wilderness.

Gideoni was the father of Abidan, the appointed leader of the tribe of Benjamin during the wilderness period, first mentioned in Numbers 1:11 at the first census of Israel. Abidan represented Benjamin in the census, the tribal offerings at the altar's dedication (Numbers 7:60–65), and the ordering of the camp and march. Gideoni is preserved solely through his son's official role, his name meaning 'warrior' or 'hewer.'
