Milcah, the daughter of Haran and wife of Nahor, was the mother of Bethuel and the grandmother of Rebekah.
Milcah was the daughter of Haran and a niece of Abraham, who became the wife of her uncle Nahor—a levirate-type marriage that reflects the patriarchal custom of endogamy (Genesis 11:29). She bore Nahor eight sons, the most significant of whom was Bethuel, the father of Rebekah and Laban (Genesis 22:20–23). Through this lineage Milcah became the grandmother of the wives of both Jacob and Isaac, making her a pivotal ancestress in the transmission of the Abrahamic line. Her name, meaning 'queen,' reflects an honorific naming convention paralleled by her sister Iscah.
