Abitub

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Benjamin · H0036
Old Testament

Abitub was a son of Shaharaim, a Benjaminite, and is mentioned in the genealogy of the tribe of Benjamin.

Abitub was a son of Shaharaim, a Benjaminite who sent away two of his wives and subsequently fathered children in Moab; Abitub and his brother Jobab were born to Shaharaim's wife Hushim (1 Chronicles 8:8–11). The genealogical context suggests that Shaharaim's family had unusually complex marriage arrangements, possibly reflecting commercial or diplomatic ties with Moab. Abitub's name does not appear again in the narrative portions of the Old Testament, and his significance lies entirely in his place within the Benjaminite lineage.
