Amasai
Amasai, a chief of thirty mighty men, joined David at Ziklag while he was fleeing from Saul.
Amasai, chief of the thirty mighty men, was a warrior who came to David at Ziklag when he was still a fugitive from Saul, and delivered the famous declaration: 'We are yours, O David, and with you, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helpers! For your God helps you' (1 Chronicles 12:18). This utterance, attributed to the inspiration of the Spirit, was a turning point in gathering cross-tribal support for David's future kingship. Amasai may be identified with Amasa the son of Abigail, though this identification is debated. His declaration stands as one of the most theologically significant speeches in the pre-monarchic narrative of David.
