Old Testament

Bealiah, a Benjamite warrior, was one of the men who joined David at Ziklag.

Bealiah was a Benjamite warrior, one of the ambidextrous soldiers who joined David at Ziklag while he was being pursued by King Saul (1 Chronicles 12:5). These men crossed tribal loyalty lines to support David before his accession to the throne, and their defection from Saul's tribe of Benjamin was particularly significant. His name, meaning 'Yahweh is lord,' reflects the covenantal naming patterns common among Israelites who remained loyal to the God of Israel.
